Weighing in on the Jordan-Stopper

I didn't have anything very speculative or interesting to say about the next IU basketball coach. A few things occurred to me after watching some ESPN today.

Dakich doesn't seem like an amazing fit at the moment.

I watched the Hoosiers limp past the Buckeyes earlier tonight and had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. With that said, if he keeps winning and they make the Final Four, I think the university should save some money and promote the ol' Jordan Stopper. If they end up losing in the first or second round, they ought to really drop some money to get a proven winner.

Enter Bruce Pearl

He's won everywhere he's been and makes the right strategic in-game moves.

Even though they lost to Vanderbilt (no slouch) earlier tonight, Pearl nearly won the game in the last minutes. Instead of jacking up desperate threes, he exposed Vandy's weak middle. He's not afraid to wear a hideous blazer; he calls out cheaters; he shows a little emotion on the sidelines. A coach has to be equal parts strategy and motivator. I don't doubt Dakich's Xs and Os; he's learned from some of the best. It just doesn't seem like he has that fiery Big Ten personality Hoosier fans have comes to expect. From what I see, Pearl has just that.

Enhanced Functionality

Amidst the crazy IU basketball turmoil and housing developments, I've been able to get a few new writing tools out to the world. Maybe "new" isn't quite the word -- retooled, mashed -- maybe that's more like it.

I have a beta writing collaborative in the works: KO-OP.org. WORDCHASM writers can write back and forth across a network of managed blogs to discuss writing ideas.

Meanwhile, the back-end of WORDCHASM has been enchanced. Look out J-LO. Here comes the Co-Author plug-in. Users can now co-write posts.

I'm pretty excited about all this and it's almost time to publish WORDCHASM Volume 2.

Personal Issues

It has been a pretty good year for IU basketball fans. However, I think we're all sad to see A.J. go. He is so damn talented.

Dudeism

book of the dudeTimes like these call for a Big Lebowski. Dudeism is the badass Church of Latter-Day Dude. It's a pretty incredible religion as far as religions go. I'd rank it right up there with Pastafarianism.

I wonder if I could convert Mike Huckabee. We'd have to add a whole lot of dogma. I think I'd lead with a White Russian. That generally limbers up the mind some. If somebody bought him a bathrobe and some slippers that wouldn't hurt either.

Which candidate would be the most likely to convert? I'd say probably Kucinich. Nader is a bit too angry, I think. McCain is clearly a follower of Sobchak. Romney is a robot. I guess they can be programmed to be peaceful.

Barack is the best presidential candidate, but I just don't he him writing a check for 69 cents. Yeah, Kucinich on stilts, definitely. He's probably broke by now.
